about

This album was recorded over the summer of 2000 with about 7 or 8 handheld cassette recorders, with the exception of two songs that were done on a cassette 4-track sans EQ. I would gather the sounds I wanted from "hot spots" all over Lancaster: Tupack's Liquor, Toys R Us, American Way Thrift, The Sally, church, and Mike Coleman's pad. Then I'd gather the piles of tapes, largely unlabeled, and arrange the speakers in a sort of half-circle, put the tapes in and hit record on the one I was holding, over and over till it synced up just right. The master copy is long gone, as are second generations. I probably sold them at the parking lot of the Desert Inn when I was 18 or 19. This album is an unintentional psychedelic mess, a subliminal concept record about a fellow who is dreaming and cannot wake up. It's his journey... false awakenings, only to realize the dream continues.
